Here, on Emmitsburg Road in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, stands the scenic Peach Orchard. Serving as a contrast to the natural peace of the Gettysburg National Battlefield, the Peach Orchard is complete with two cannons and a statue of a Confederate soldier holding a rifle. This starkly somber Civil War battlefield reminds us of a bloody time of conflict in American history, a time of sadness and sorrow, when there was often brother pitted against brother. Though surrounded by peach trees, the emotional impact of this scene is not lost in its essence. A blue and grey sky caps the stillness of the battlefield and the many ghosts who watch in silence.
